Team Support

There are a mountainous number of people supporting the team in a myriad of ways, as seen from links shown on the welcome page of this site. There are also the family, especially their wives and children, parents and a host of friends supporting them financially and emotionally, carrying on the good work at home even, so they can do the expedition at all. See the many messages to get a feel for that. There are also many kit suppliers, including Spirit of Adventure for the SPOT unit, Cable & Wireless for the satphone, clothing suppliers and so on. They are ALL important and vital. Their links are elsewhere on this site. It would also be foolish to forget to mention the Falkland Islanders themselves, who are clearly being extremely hospitable to the team in terms of food, rest and shelter. A huge thanks is given to all these people by the team for that support.

Here there is a short mention of the team support "on the ground". These are the people who 24/7 keep an eye out on the team, respond to the SPOT, collate messages, upload photos, manage supply drops, provide weather forecasts and generally enable the website to keep everyone else informed.

Trudi-Marvin Trudi and Marvin. Ground support on the Falklands. They take part in and help organise the supply drops to the team, keep in touch with the satphone, provide weather forecasts to the team and navigational information and photos for the website. Their contact with the team often supplies diary information for the website, as interim material until the team can get to a computer.
Alison Thorogood. Cable and Wireless link, and instrumental in organising the title sponsorship between C&W and the team. Provided the satphone link, which has proved to be extremely useful. Also keeps in touch with team by satphone, relays information including weather forecasts, and acts as an extra local ground link for all support matters.  Alison
Colin(Ed) Colin Opie. This reprobate is basically responsible for the website, keeping the team and supporters united throughout the expedition. Openly admits to just being a computer key pusher really, relying 100% on the team and other supporters to supply all the material. Nice cosy job if you can get it, as the saying goes! Is however solely responsible for some of the more whacky comments against the photos.

Latest news:

It's all over. The team members will be flying back into "Brize" in the UK on Wednesday 25th Feb. You can see their final diary report, sent on the 22nd Feb.

Take a look the photos if you haven't already. There may well be quite a few more here once the team are back in the UK, so another visit might be worth it, maybe from early March onwards.

That's it! In the main that's "Over" from me. I hope you enjoyed the show.

WELL DONE TEAM
