Here you will find messages sent to the team (as opposed to the diaries, where the content is from the team). Should you wish to add a message please email me:  Colin Opie. Say whatever you want to keep their MF (Moral Fibre) up. Please include your name and where you are from, in case there are messags from several identical names in their combined address books! Be warned however, if it is in any way offensive or otherwise unsuitable, I will not post it. That is one reason there is no blog on this site, people tend to abuse such luxuries, and I don't have time to check it.

Hi Guys, Happy New Year. Now I know someone has to replace me as ‘The Butler’ on this trip, but wearing your wife’s clothes and taking her passport is just taking it tooooooo far!!! I went dinghy sailing today, it’s the clubs ‘chilly willy’ opener for the new season - it was cold in Kent so I felt for the three of you. Still, I managed to stay upright (no capsizes) and hope you all manage the same! Hope you get going soon and good luck. [Simon Middleton]

Hi Dad (timmy), I've finally found the blog sight! Went up to Big Ben last night to see in the New Year - froze our b*ll*cks off, but it was great. Hope you're all getting on swimmingly (so to speak!). Happy New Year to all of you mad dogs and englishmen.
Loads of love, [Amy x]

Hey daddyman, i tried (unsuccesfully i might add) to add to the email a picture of me all dressed up as a bumbley bee for new years gold face and all (i had the best timey!!!) however due to my technological incompetance the mission was unsuccessful! don't go following suit - i have complete faith in the 3 of you! had another driving lesson today - no crashes - hooray! missing you lots daddyola keep expecting to see you when i return home but to no avail! i hope that the rain has stopped for you - you little rays of sunshiney! happy new year to all of you lots of love [phoebwa! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx]

Cornwall Carters to the Falklands - Dear Tim, Richie and Chris, Thought I had better e mail as everyone else sems to be and I don't want to look like a bad wife!! We are all well here - its still cold so have been able to do some work outside. Had lunch with Aunt Phll in St. Ives yesterday - my reward is in heaven I know. A couple more people have pledged money so I will add them to the list. Seeing the Barkers tomorrow for a walk and then back here for food - then Christmas really will be over and the tree can come down. Good to see pictures of you lot though the ration pile looks challenging! Speak again soon lots of love [Footy]

Timmy - from the photos you have obviously been doing some serious eating in preparation so its a case of - 'come on the big fella' - or you may remember a certain trial on Lundy where you could now be mistaken for Steveo's lady love !!!! Best of luck guys I have to say with my paddling skills I am in the right place, 1000+ miles from any water. [Webbie]

Hey daddyo! i have just been sorting out my room but the task was indeed so arduous i had to take a break and write a messagey to yooou! vicky had the baby - rennes! im hoping to see her tomo! i loved the penguins i thought they were beautsy! its minus 7 here = gross but it could reach -10 tonight! gross! looking forward to my day off tomo, im swimming and lunching with hazel, but obv due to the tempretures not in the sea! i wish you the best for your start tomo! love you lotses from [phoebsy xxxxxxxxxxxx]

Hi guys, Cable & Wireless are delighted to support you attempting a circumnavigation of the Falklands in your kayaks. The Falkland Islands is a challenging area for those on the water, therefore your commitment to the event in order to raise money for three very important charities is commendable. We all wish you luck and success and look forward to monitoring your progress over the next 6 weeks. With best wishes, [Alison Thorogood]
Hope you guys manage to get away on time. The moment has come, as it is said. Everyone home here is rooting for you, and I personally wish you a safe, fun, adventurous and life enhancing trip. Seeing Tim's yellow peril reminds me of my previous sea boat and I smile at the immense pleasure (and sometimes fear) that comes from trips such as these. Just remember, if you or your techno support sends me it (text or photos), it will appear on this site, so try and keep us all amused, okay? The VERY BEST of everything lads, [Colin O]
Hey Dad, Just seen the countdown on the site 20 minutes to go-so exciting! Hope you have a great time. It looks amazing. I especially liked the penguins and I don't think you should eat any of them however bad the ration packs get. Anyway I better get back to looking like I'm doing some work. Lots of love and good luck to all of you. [Old Bean xxx (Joanna Carter)]
Hi Tim (+team). Just sitting at home with a virus and checked the website to see you are away in 15 minutes!! Best of luck, hope all goes well and have a great time. The scared paddler of Brownsea, [Neil Whiting]

Hi Ho Yer All, The boot is now on the other foot and I am hoping to be amused by some witty ditty happenings on your trip - so please do not be bashful tell us as it is!! Looking at the photos it takes me back - I was out there in 1977 and also circumnavigated - in something a little bigger than a plastic kayak. I think you are in for a great adventure and I wish you luck. [Sandy]

Dear 3 mad paddlers, so this is one of the ways of avoiding the coldest start to the year for 20 years. Minus 12C on Dartmoor and Bodmin Moor. I won't tell you what it has done to our loo macerators, but from previous episodes, I'm sure Richy can guess. Yuck! However, with true British grit, we are weathering the icy cold and all other hardships. luv [Mum/Gilly x]

Hey there lads. Hope everything is going swimmingly (well not exactly). England has finally thawed out and the rain has started - now we have a proper English Winter! Hope the weather is good for you and the penguins. Good luck and enjoy and I look forward to reading all about your adventures...........P.S Lily has a message for you; ffffdsa\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ \\\\\ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\z\\\\\\\za\\\\ \\\gfgggggggggggggg hhhhhhhhhggfgggg gggggggg gggg  lll;llllllllllll;.;;;;.lllllll5ax vggg [Helen {Paver} and family]

Hope all is going well and warmer than freezing Cornwall. We have had over a week of minus 8 and that's just inside the house!! (only joking) However rain is forecast tonight so its back to status quo soon. Have been to see your Mum and Dad today Tim and took lunch - didn't get there quite as soon as planned as had a flat tyre - luckily at home so Pete helped me. Mum and Dad are well - we had lunch and a walk round STover lake. Also chatted to Wendy who rang while I was there - she has been poorly with flu thing but is feeling better amd looking forward to her trip to the UK. Last night all the neighbours came round for roast lamb and a million veg so we raised a glass or two to you lot. Phoebe has been working hard - has a philosophy exam on Tuesday. Hamish came with me today which was good fun - otherwise still horizontal. Hope you are all well fit and warm in your nice new fleeces and will mail again soon. lots of love [Footy]

Message as follows from Tims Litte brother and family in NZ....Hi Guys, following your progress every day, google maps keeps on offering directions to get to you but I’m not really that keen even though I suppose we’re closer than most. Really envy you the adventure - just not this one! I cant be the only one thinking I should do better with my own outlook. Wish you all the best all the way round even if Tim capsized me (aged 11) in the river Teign in the canoe he made in woodwork (he also saved me a few years later in the river Avon!). Will keep watching till you are there! Love [Pete. Jac, Tom and Lulu]

Hi Chris love, glad to hear that all is going well, looking forward to flying out to meet you next month, (missing you loads) everything is fine here, pat & jim send their love and have made a donation for your charity, the lads from lydd camp are following your progress and have pledged on the web site, they all send best wishes and i am to let you know they are all supporting you 100% (even though they think you are a bit insane (in a nice way)). enjoy yourself, have fun and will see you all soon. Love  you and i am very proud of you [Jacqueline xxxxxxxxxxx]

15th hey daddsy, im writing this when im supposed to be doing my french work - i know tis bad so this will have to be a quick one! i received your letter today - it was tres bizarre to have recieved a lettsy from you - i cant remeber the last time! today i went swimming with hazeleeeey and a woman had an epileptic fit -  wasnt too cooly but she was ok! my friend glenn has run away to london - how very clever(thats sarcastic - i always find tone difficult in writing) anyway tho missing you lotses i am currently getting lifts with paul to st columb as it is far too cold and dark and wet (although you are probably a bit more damp) bonne voyage! love you lotses xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx [Footy]

Hi Chris love, just a quick message to say that 2RRF were in Lydd and they all send regards and wishes, Jim Bird say's Hi and he will get in touch when you get back, love you, [Jacqueline xxxxxx]

Tim, Just to repeat our good wishes, we look at the map keenly to see your progress, [ Mum and Dad]

Hi Tim and Mates, Happy New Year, and what a novel way to start it to be sure! Our heartiest hurrahs to all of you for an enjoyable and successful trip around the Malvinas from the depths of sleepy, decidedly unadventurous Cheam in Surrey. Have navigated your excellent website with ease, thanx for making it so simple! Good luck with your own, rather more chilly and demanding navigations, will be keeping up with your progress over the coming weeks. Godspeed, with fondest memories of a Fab Feastfest chez Carter not long ago! [Cliff and Teresa Fulker]

Hi Richy and the other 2 men in a boat. We're watching that little red line getting longer and longer, hurrah. Can't say that life here is as exciting as your's. As I can't get into the garden cos' of pouring rain, what better to do than write to you guys? More wedding plans at the weekend, including a practice with Kath and the hair and make-up lady, invites to print and first chat with our friend John, who will be taking the ceremony on the day. The moles are trying as hard as possible to ruin the grass where the marquee is going, but I'm sure we can all have a 'stamping mole hills down' party before May. Evie has had bronchiolitis but is improving greatly, Jo is back at work(grunt), Nigel has sinusitis(vereeeeeeee painful). Grandma is fretting cos' she doesn't want to be modern and use eco-bulbs for her lights and they don't sell 150 watt bulbs anymore-amazed she hasn't caused a fire with such a strong wattage! luv [Mumsie xx]

Hi kayakers, Great to see the pictures & know you're doing well. So far so good! We Barkers had a great day with Carter family, but missed you Tim.... Take care & good luck, love, [Beth & all]

 16th

Hello lads, Geoff here (the short, bald one who usually gets a bout of Tourettes whilst climbing with Tim and Richy...........oh and did meet Chris briefly once whilst drinking beer in a tent in Cornwall). Just wanted to wish you guys well and hope things are going too plan. I have been monitoring your progress on Google earth and keep having massive jealousy attacks over your adventure every time I find myself crawling to and fro work along the A27 in the rain and the rush hour traffic, which is most days. Good old Sussex. Anyway, hope wind and waves remain kind to you and don't suffer any "Deliverance" type situations! [Geoff Hinton]

I have just been speaking to your wife Tim and arranged to see you in early April! Can't wait I really want to hear ALL about this trip. Looks amazing. Now I have retired from the police I htought I might try expedition medicine which might be a tad more interesting and better for the figure! I will be interested to hear about your weight, not because you are a fat git but medically speaking when you undertake such a challenge!!! I'm full of admiration and a tinsy winsy bit jealous of such a trip. Keep paddling and enjoy. Love from [Anne Harrison]
17th Hi Richy, we have been watching your progress closely and hope the weather is more kind for you all.  The pictures look great, the boys especially like the ones of the penguins and dolphins.  The one of you in your paddle pants made Ben and Sam laugh (they think they are a bit girlie).  Keep the pictures coming as I am waiting to see the huge fish you are going to catch!  Remember everything I have taught you and stay safe!!  It all looks “very tasty indeed” and wish I was there too.  I have been updating the boys in work every duty day and they are all behind you and wish you all well.  Good luck [Mark, Bryony, Ben and Sam]
Hey daddyola!, the wind is so strong here the telephone cables are going round like skipping ropes! it made me think of you! hopes yous ok in your tiny boatsy in the big big sea! listening to a new electro album lent to me by a new college friend! tis pretty cooly makes me dance like a crazy! hopes yous having wondrous fun! im trying to learn french vocab tho not the same when im not cutting your hair at the same timey!!! love you lotses [Phoebela xxxxxxxxxxxxx]
18th Mr Carter, Sir!  Just wanted to say hello from Wallington!  I was sorting through the photos I took over Christmas and came across some good ones of the gang on the beach: Phoebe & Hamish were particularly daring fetching the stick for the dogs in ever deeper puddles... they must have been subconciously thinking about their dear old Dad and wanting to experience freezing water!.  We did miss you of course - particularly your pace setting although you'd be slightly proud of us clambering down some ice & seaweed encrusted rocks I think!  Your family are coping extremely well without you (!) and we were most impressed with the barn, but did you really have to go all that way to get away with not working on it?!!  Well, better get back to minting some more fivers... you know how us Bankers are.  Just leaves us to say: keep going!  All the best to you, Ritchie & Chris. [Savio & Jamie]
Hope the North winds are abating and that you haven't run out of food with the slower than expected progress - bet you're glad you put on some extra pounds Tim. All well here - had Hamish's birthday sleepover (!!!!!) on Friday lovely boys but a tad noisy so Footy looked a little bleary eyed on Saturday.  Today have been sawing logs and playing patience on the computer so much easier with Tim away tee hee.    It has been pretty windy here too - no damage to us but Phil lost one end of his roof yesterday - it was like a mini tornado. lots of love [Footy xxx]
 20th

Hey Richy… Good effort, been following you guys daily, Beefy loves the ‘camp’ pictures of you. J Coombers got his worry head on about you (when he’s awake) and me… I need a stand in so hurry up! Good luck mate. [Ray Filbay]

Hello Timbo Ritchie and Chris, we are keeping up with your antics as often as poss and thrilled youre having the experiences you dreamed about (some of them anyway!) and Im not! Yes its me (those waves look enormous are you sure? ) aka Pete. Your trip looks amazing and the pics really help give an idea of what you are undertaking...real boys adventure stuff. We have a new Greenie to tell you about ... ROSIE ! named after our mates sunkissed face in some of the pics, shes 9 wks old and just as gorgeous/round/hairy/feisty/hungry/vocal as you Tim! haha!
Home is all well and still in one piece despite the best efforts of the weather and we are all fit and healthy. Matts getting excited about his own trip now and is enjoying spending his dosh on all the little necessities he`ll need. Everyone sends their love and best wishes. Will keep logging on to check on your progress. Take lots of care and keep taking the photos,  love from the Greenies xxxx
P.S The sea looks fairly flat in all of the views - perhaps id have coped after all ????? NAH just kidding. [Peter Green]

Two messages in a week - I'm spoiling you. It was great to hear the latest update Tim - you write a good report. Good too to see the photos - the campsite looks beautiful. have told Derek about the birdlife - he is very envious. Went to choir tonight where Tony had printed off your latest diary entry for all to see. many send you best wishes as did John Benhalleck last night at the old Cornwall dinner. I have updated him as he has no computer and he will pass the news on on Thursday. Still not sure about the beard - don't RAF flights have razors. Will write again on the weekend - lots of love to you and your two hairy friends xxx [Footy]

 21st

Hi Chris, hello just to say that we are still watching your progress... Been in hospital for whole of last week and back in on Monday for 10 days, but Sam and Liz are keeping me up to speed..We are all very proud of you, lots of love [ex- & kiddies xxxx]

Tim, we were glad to see the progress on the map and the photos. We hope it was just tea in those mugs and we did not know you were going to play bonfires, Pete will be jealous. Thanks for call. [ Mum and Dad]

Tim - Footy here - keep meaning to ask you - answer when you have a mo!! Did you take the right clothing? Is it warmer/colder than you expected?  Is it cold at night.  Are you getting enough to eat?  have you caught any fish yet? All these and many more questions to be answered soon on a website near you. Here's Hamish ... hey dad hows it going i hope all is well as it is here Grease is performing in under 2 weeks everythings getting a bit tense but compared to you i guess it's nothing.all my best to everone lots of love your best and worst and only son. [Footy & Hamish]
 22nd

Hi Guys - Following your progress with interest. Well done! I leave the Kimberley today & will check again when I get to Devon on Saturday. Keep those sore muscles working. Congrats Love [Wendy in Kununurra]

Hello 3 men in boats! Really enjoying your updates. Glad all these Falkland folk are looking after you so well, I know they did when Sandy took HMS Chichester in there in 1976. Wildlife sounds awesome-please note Timmy, the use of your word which I now use regularly. All well here. We have 3 guys staying tomorrow-a group called Cubania who are playing at our village hall. Saturday is SOA Christmas dinner at Mullion Cove, then up to Hereford via Footy's, before going to Camarthen for 4 days-Helen and the babes also joining us. Richy, your Dad has visions of this relaxing week doing our own thing-I have news for him-could be noisy with 2 under 2s. luv Mumsie xxx. PS I like the beards. [Gilly]

Hello lads, Looks like all is going well, wish I was down there but getting ready for a course starting on the 28 Jan. Keep up the good work and the pig is on me on your return, (Flat or round, the choice is yours). Happy paddling, Spider [Paul Taylor]
23rd Dear Tim, Richie and Chris, I obviously haven't enough to do if I can send three messages in one week! Thought i would take advantage of you being somewhere with a computer.  Does this still count as an expedition if you are sleeping in beds and eating fresh bread (not at the same time)? Am off to London this afternoon to stay night with Vivienns then up early tomorrow to pick up Wendy from heathrow then back to your ma and pa's for lunch Tim.  Gilly and Sandy are calling for a coffee on Sunday morning after Spirit Christmas dinner in Falmouth the night before and en route to hereford and Jill. Table tennis resumed last night complete with new ball hurling machine. Very amusing to watch Mr. Green before the speed had been adjusted.  Good luck with the next bit  looking forward to the next lot of photos and diary entry.  love to you all [Footy.xxxxx]

Ho Ho You Paddlers. Glad to see you are making progress - more detail of the pink arm bands please!! Stunning part of the world - and you are seeing the parts that others never see!! Richie you may be interested to know that we did a team building event with Dorset Fire & Rescue in the new Regional Operations Centre in Taunton - very interesting and controversial centre. I guess you guys don't need any team building but tell me has LMF set in at any stage? [Sandy]

Hi Chris love, it was really good to hear your voice yesterday, i love and miss you very much too,i am glad you are really enjoying yourself, everyone asks how you are all getting on so i keep the laptop on in the bistro on your site so  that they can follow your progress. my flight, hotel, and kennels have been booked for next month and i am really looking forward to seeing you at the finish. give my love to all and will see you soon. love you loads [ Jacqueline xxxxxx]
24th Richie, I hope your OK and enjoying yourself. It looks very cold and far too wet for me!! Lovely landscape and wildlife tho. All good here, possibly looking at a move from Debenhams to Screwfix. Wedding plans going well- most things sorted. Sue is going to join us on our wine, ale and cider tasting for the wedding- should be fun! We had a fun rather civilised new year with sue and Richie Dunn. Anyhoo, keep paddling- nearly but not quite half way there- haha! Love [Katherine and Phil Simpson xx]

Dear Richy-our laptop has broken again, although i watch the red line on the map getting longer every day - I am at Ma's house this weekend for pa's funeral on monday, so I'm using her computer & have just been looking at your new pics - hope the beard isn't driving you crazy? at least it will keep your chin warm against the wind, man it looks rough & cold out there!  Thinking about you and missing you everyday!  we like the pics of the penguins and seals!  hope all the boys are feeling up to full power after the re-charge at Pebble & good luck for the next bit.  all my love xxxxxx [sue]
 25th
Tim, Just to let you know Wendy has arrived safely we walked at Teignmouth sea front yesterday and around Stover Lake today. She has been watching your progress as we have. We appreciate you will not see much civilization but we used to export a few souvenir pots to Falklands so you might see the odd piece still in use. We sent out blue and white first off, and latterly, if memory is correct, named decorated, flower decorations with Falkland Isles on them. Love from us all [Sister, Mum and Dad]

Hello guv'nor and mates! So pleased to hear you're having a great time! Had a big Friday night of beers and a warm saturday morning shower and fry-up and I felt bad for you lot in the cold. Then I hear you're kicking back in the farmhouse with fresh bread! Guilt officially dispatched! All well here in Norwich, had my 6 month probationary review at work and am now a permanent member of staff (as permanent as possible in the current economic climate!) Working hard, playing hard and looking forward to climbing when you're back - bozzy in the sunshine anyone?! lots of love [Amy (Timmy's daughter) and my Chris sends love too xxx]

26th Keep at it you guys. From the photos we decided that those of us who live in Windy Wellington have got it easy! We too liked the photos of the penguins – better looking than you guys! Thanks for the photos of you all in the thermals, the best thing about them, other than they keep you warm is that they don’t smell even after weeks of wear – weird but true. No I have no financial interest in NZ merino. Enjoy seeing the thin red line getting longer. Love from [Pete, Jac, Tom and Lulu]

Hi Dad,  Check out that facial hair, but as you know I like beardies. Just caught up on all the photos and diary entries, it sounds and looks amazing. Got back yesterday from a great week in Bardonecchia, my ski-ing and Italian has improved significantly (I can now order beer in 5 languages). It was a great resort with lots of snow, and with 13 of us the evenings were quite entertaining too, but obviously you know me first lift up last lift down-a drop barely passed my lips. Missing you lots, hope the weather stays on your side. Good luck to you all, lots of love Old Bean xxx [Joanna Carter]

Hi Richy, I'm a dad again. Boy. No name yet. Mads, Freya and the kid are doing well. The pics of the trip look amazing. Only concern is that you shave off the face fungus before you come back to Cornwall. Probably washing would be good too. Quite glad the photo's aren't Smell-o-Vision. Good luck to you and the other guys with the rest of the trip. I'm really quite jealous. Cheers, [Kyle Brown]
 27th

Hey Ho Richie, Sorry its taken me so long to send a message but I've only just worked out how to work the website!!! Glad all is going well, although the winds sound a bit of a nightmare. Love the pics. you must be seeing some amazing sights. All is well here. Evie has been a bit sick with bronciolotis, but in true evie fashion she keeps smiling and laughing even when she's too weak to do anything else. You've done well to miss the cold weather here. I came of my bike on the ice the other morning. Luckily nothing but a few bruises, including my ego!! Ian is enjoying being a house husband two days a week.....he's desperately trying to get the bathroom finished at the same time. He has moved the bath to a new location and we had to spend a week siting on the toilet sideways because the new bath was in the way.....tricky in the middle of the night!!!! Anyway, good luck and keep the messages coming. Lots of love [Jo, Ian and Evie xxxx]

Hope the rest of the trip goes to plan and catch up when you get back. Good luck from me, and all your colleagues in Cornwall County Fire Brigade. [Colin Hatch, Senior Staff Officer, Cornwall County Fire Brigade]

Latest news:

It's all over. The team members will be flying back into "Brize" in the UK on Wednesday 25th Feb. You can see their final diary report, sent on the 22nd Feb.

Take a look the photos if you haven't already. There may well be quite a few more here once the team are back in the UK, so another visit might be worth it, maybe from early March onwards.

That's it! In the main that's "Over" from me. I hope you enjoyed the show.

WELL DONE TEAM
